Who we are

Progress is the New Labour pressure group which aims to promote a radical and progressive politics for the 21st century. Founded in 1996, we are an independent organisation of Labour party members.

Through our national and regional events and regular publications, we seek to promote open debate and discussion of progressive ideas and policies.

Progress is chaired by Lord Andrew Adonis. Our vice chairs are Jenny Chapman MP, Julie Elliott MP, Tristram Hunt MP, Dan Jarvis MP, Liz Kendall MP, Alison McGovern MP, Toby Perkins MP, Bridget Phillipson MP, Jonathan Reynolds MP, Anas Sarwar MP, and John Woodcock MP. Progress’ honorary president is Stephen Twigg MP, shadow secretary of state for education.

Membership of Progress is open to all members of the Labour party and is only open to current members of the Labour party. If you are not a member of the Labour party but wish to receive the magazine, you can subscribe to Progress here. As of 1 August 2012, Progress has 2,014 continuing members and subscribers.
