Progress will be in Newcastle on 14 March 2013 at 6.30pm for the North East leg of the The Purple Papers’ series. The Collingwood Room, The Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 8QH, will be host to the following speakers:
The speakers will discuss the ideas offered in The Purple Papers as well as their own thoughts about what choices Labour will and should make as a new government in 2015. This will be followed by questions from the floor.
This event is part of our regional series which is around our latest publication, The Purple Papers: Real Change for Britain, Real Choices for Labour. These are a series of ‘green papers’ taking forward some of the ideas and proposals that were made in The Purple Book in 2010. It made the case for the party to develop policies that redistribute power in the market, public services, and the state. The papers take this thinking forward and look at the policy choices and priorites that would face an incoming Labour government in 2015.
The five main areas the pamphlet covers are public services, childcare, social care, the new economy and welfare. These papers have been written by Patrick Diamond who is a research fellow at Policy Network, Graeme Cooke an associate director of IPPR and Steve Van Riel who is the former director of policy and research at the Labour party.
Progressive centre-ground Labour politics does not come for free.
Our work depends on you.
