Progress Parliamentary Candidate Workshop

24 January 2009
11:00 to 14:30

Central London

Preparing for Parliamentary selections can be daunting, difficult and time consuming, but with good preparation, the barriers which may prevent Labour members from representing the Labour Party at the next election are not insurmountable.

Progress has therefore developed a workshop for those who are interested in getting selected. The workshop will go through planning your campaign, considering your message and organising your campaign team. It will be led by Andy Bagnall and Richard Angell. Andy is currently a special adviser to Hazel Blears, Communities Secretary. Before that, he worked for the group of trade unions that affiliate to the Labour Party, was chief whip of Croydon Council and worked as a professional organiser for the Party. Richard Angell is the Chair of Young Labour and is the former Membership Officer for Progress. He ran successful selection campaigns for a number of people including Stephen Twigg in Liverpool and most recently Emma Reynolds in Wolverhampton.

To attend the workshop you must be a Progress member on the day of the training session. The workshop costs £10 for Progress members, or £20 which will include Progress membership. To reserve your place, please RSVP to Mark Harrison, Events Manager, at mark@progressives.org.uk or call 020 3008 8180. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. A second, women-only, workshop is also being planned and further details for that will be advertised in early 2009.
